The right people, the right place, the right plan - that is what it takes to make something big happen.

Read more about how we are Designing and Growing a Creative Industries Zone.

The Creative Industries Zone is a large swath of downtown South Salt Lake that stands as a remarkable creative cluster targeted to support creatives. The area between 2100 South and Mill Creek along West Temple between State Street and 200 West is home to a burgeoning community of artists and creatives. As a historic and present-day transportation crossroads of the Wasatch Front, the Zone is the "hinge" point of Sugar House, Downtown Salt Lake City, and Salt Lake County. This area possesses a wealth of industrial buildings offering flexible space for start-up enterprises, artists, craftsman industries and small service businesses. Owners and tenants are drawn to the location, abundance of space, public art and the company of other creative entrepreneurs.

Since 2016, South Salt Lake has been working with creative professionals, civic leaders, community members and a cultural consulting group on building a more creative, vibrant and exciting downtown. From the annual Mural Fest and Craftoberfest events to our Utility Box Art, creative placemaking initiatives are transforming our community one project at a time.
