Craftoberfest 2024
Call for Buskers
The South Salt Lake Arts Council is seeking talented buskers to entertain our community at Craftoberfest on October 5th from 12 pm to 5 pm.
Craftoberfest will be held on Oakland Ave (about 2500 South) between Main Street and West Temple.
Performers will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in 15-minute segments. While this is an unpaid opportunity, buskers are welcome to bring a tip jar or digital payment sign.
To apply:
* Fill out the Google form provided with a sample of your family-friendly material.
* Submit your application by September 20th.
Selected performers will receive their assigned time slot by September 23rd.

Call for Barrel & Keg Artists
Call Summary - CLOSED: Announcements pending jury
The South Salt Lake Arts Council is seeking artists to participate in the 2024 Craftoberfest Barrel and Keg Art Project. Up to 6 artists will be chosen to create a one-of-a-kind custom painted barrel or keg.

Project Description
Selected artists will create a custom barrel or keg either in partnership with a South Salt Lake brewery or distillery, or with their own design on a barrel or keg to be auctioned off at Craftoberfest. After selected, artists will be assigned to either a participating business or to auction. Barrels and kegs designed for businesses will become the property of each respective business after the event., while proceeds of the auction will go to benefit the South Salt Lake Art Council. Artists will be awarded a stipend of either $500 for a keg or $700 for a barrel. Stipend is to include all supplies and paint. All barrels and kegs will be displayed at the event on October 5th, 2024. There will also be a $200 prize given to the artis whose barrel or keg wins the People's Choice Award, voted on at Craftoberfest.

Timeline
Deadline to submit applications is Friday, August 30, 2024. Following jury selection, artists will be notified and informed of their painting assignment by Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Artists assigned to a business will coordinate design elements and schedule with partnering businesses. Completion deadline is Monday, September 30th, 2024.
Selection Process
Applications will be juried by the South Salt Lake Arts Council Board.​

About Craftoberfest
Craftoberfest is an annual event that celebrates all things Craft in South Salt Lake's Creative Industries Zone. Local breweries, distileries, and food purveyors feature craft cocktails, beer, and other specialties for sale. Featuring live music, artist booths, food trucks, kids activities, pet adoptions, and more!
Mural Fest 2024
Call for Artists has closed.
Each year, the South Salt Lake Arts Council seeks qualified artists to participate in Mural Fest. The Mural Fest 2025 Call for Artists will open towards the end of 2025. Please check back for more info or follow us on Instagram for updates.
Applicants are asked to submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) to provide the services requested. The selected artist(s) will be chosen to create artwork that contributes to the revitalization, social connectivity and economic vitality of the City of South Salt Lake and our Creative Industries Zone.
Artists are invited to apply in one of two categories:

Mural Artist

Apprentice Artist
Call is open to all artists age 18 and up. Artist teams are acceptable. Artists who have experience creating works of art for local businesses are encouraged to apply.
NOTE: In order to give as many artists the opportunity to paint as possible, we kindly ask artists who currently have a mural on public display in South Salt Lake to decline the invitation to apply.
